Employment counsel, both sides

Brendan advises both employees and employers on a range of employment matters, including termination, discipline and grievance, employee handbooks, employment contracts, and personnel policies. He also counsels clients on wage and hour, workplace violence, and privacy issues that come up in the course of running a workplace or working in one.

California's state and federal employment laws change constantly, and keeping a workplace in compliance with the Family Leave Acts, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and the other statutes that govern it is a year-round job. Brendan works with clients in San Rafael, CA and across the Bay Area to navigate those requirements and to respond when an agency complaint arrives.

    Statutory compliance

California's many constantly changing state and federal employment laws make compliance a moving target. Brendan helps clients work through the Family Leave Acts, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and the other statutes that shape what an employer can and must do.

    Responding to agency complaints

When a complaint comes in from the Department of Labor, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, or the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the response window matters. Brendan represents clients through that process, from the initial response to the back-and-forth that follows.
